Hello and welcome to Dale Farm. We are a small, rural camp site and working farm in Great Longstone, Derbyshire.
Dale Farm is right in the heart of the wonderful Peak District countryside, less than a mile away from Monsal Head and the Monsal Trail and a few miles from Bakewell and Chatsworth House, we are ideally situated for a visit to experience what the area has to offer.
Whether you are interested in walking, rambling, mountain biking, climbing, cycling, landscape photography, stargazing or sightseeing and shopping, it is all right on our doorstep.
Christmas, New year and 2025 BOOKINGS
Our calendar for 2025 is open and we are taking bookings. Minimum night stays apply during popular periods, this can mean 3 night weekends, 3 night bank holidays and 4 night weekend during the school holidays. Shorter stays may be possible nearer the time as we fill gaps between bookings which will be added to our booking system for you to see.
We have our own booking portal! Where possible it would be great if you could book via this method rather than through a third party site.
We have pitches for tents, campervans, motorhomes, trailer tents and small/medium caravans. We also rent out bell tents for 2-4 people which are fully kitted out so you can camp in style whilst only having to bring minimal camping gear.
Our farm shop sells all our own beef, lamb/hogget and pork. Cakes, cards and eggs from our friends down the road. We also have fire wood, kindling, fire lighters etc.
PLEASE NOTE: we must emphasise that we are strictly a quiet and peaceful camp site where no music is allowed and groups are discouraged due to their tendency to make too much noise.
We enforce a rule of a quiet site between the hours of 10pm and 7am, where car movement is prohibited during these hours and we ask that campers respectfully keep their voices at a low level so as not to disturb those wishing to have an early night to make the most of the surroundings the following morning.
We have created a camp site in a beautiful peaceful location for people to enjoy and respect these surroundings. This is not a party site or a place to stay up late and get drunk. If you are wanting to do this then please do not book here. We reserve the right to cancel any booking and refuse entry to any one we feel is likely to break these rules and disturb the peace.

A ground source heat pump to heat the hot water for the campsite, this also gets powered by the solar panels below.
23kw of solar panels (with more to follow) this powers the whole farm and campsite during the day with spare power boosting the hot water in the sheep dip.
4000ltrs of rain water is harvested from the facilities building roof and used to flush the toilets, that's 666 environmentally friendly flushes between rain showers.
Waste water is treated in a Reed Bed in one of the fields away from the campsite, this provides a natural habitat for wildlife.

Booking
How do I book?
The best way to book is via our booking portal above if you are unable to book this way please email us on info@dale.farm, please be aware that we are only a small team so can be quite slow to respond. Also as we are usually out and about around the farm we're generally unable to deal with bookings over the phone so do not take bookings this way.
Do you take telephone bookings?
We only take last minute bookings over the phone, please leave a message giving as much information about your stay, eg. number of people/dogs/cars, type of unit you will be camping in etc. We'll do our best to get back to you asap if we have a space.
If your selected date is more than 24hrs away please email us via info@dale.farm
Do I have to make a booking in advance?
Booking is always advisable to secure a pitch but we do sometimes have availabilty for last minute bookings.
I would like to book for Saturday night only is this possible?
We only take last minute bookings for Saturday night should space be available
I can't stay for your minimum night limit, can I still book?
There are a couple of options available to you. The examples below are based on a 3 night weekend.
Book from Friday and arrive from 7am Saturday morning, effectively an early check-in
Book from Friday and leave later (before 9pm) on Sunday evening, effectively a late check-out
Contact us last minute to see if we can accomodate a one or two night booking a day or so before.
What is your cancellation policy?
When a booking is made 50% (plus any applicable booking fees) is non-refundable prior to the cancellation period. Cancellations within 31 days of arrival are non-refundable. No amendments or changes are allowed within 31 days of your arrival date.
Please ensure that you have adequate staycation insurance in the event that you cannot make it. We are only a small business and cannot provide refunds or reschedule bookings because of your personal circumstances.
Arrivals and departures
What time can we arrive?
Pitches and hired accommodation are available from 3pm, please do not arrive earlier than this. We have a limited number of early arrival slots which allows arrivals between 1pm and 3pm, this can be added when booking for an additional fee. If you have added this option please do not arrive before 1pm.
My friend is booked on another pitch, can we be allocated together?
We can never promise to allocate two bookings side by side due to which pitches vacate on the day you arrive. It is usually best when booking to either book two pitches at the same time, or to write with your 'unit description' the family you would like to be with and we will do what we can. As we're only a small site you'll never be far away. Also if a pitch next door to you vacates the day after you arrive you are welcome to move, but please check with us first.
The person on the pitch next to me has departed, can my friend on another pitch move next to me?
This depends on the pitch type your friend booked, if it matches the pitch they would like to move to then this "might" be possible. We may have earmarked a pitch to be closed or reserved so please check with us first.
What time do we need leave by?
We kindly ask that you vacate your pitch by 11am returning any rented items such as firepits to the collection area. When booking there is the option to check out no later than 12.30pm for an additional fee.
Can I leave my car before check-in or after the specified checkout time?
During quieter times (Monday-Thursday) this may be possible but please ask a member of the team before leaving it as we may need you to park in another location on site. Unplanned early arrivals or late check outs are subject to a minimum £10 fee.
Do you have electric hook-ups?
Yes, we have 10 amp EHU’s available on all our pitches. These are provided unmetered (but monitored) on a fair use basis, please operate your unit in a environmentally responsible way. A quick word from all campsites, we like households are feeling the pinch of the cost of living crisis, so please avoid using unessecary power as this will unfortunely just lead to further price rises.
I have an electric vehicle can I charge it at your site?
Unfortunately our site is unable to accomodate electric vehicle charging at this time. We don't have any charging points and our hook-up points are exclusively for camping use only. There are many charging points in Bakewell and the surrounding areas for this.
My Vehicle
What is the maximum vehicle size for your site?
Although our pitches are large and spacious vehicles larger than 8 meters may struggle to access the site.
Do you allow caravans?
We've had many caravans owners visit our farm and we're happy to have you. We have a few recommendations to consider before booking.
We recommend small to medium sized caravans due to access and maneuverability when on site. (Nothing larger than 7m)
We recommend the driver be confident in towing and maneuvering.
Motor movers are helpful but work best traversing our hillside (not going up it).
I'm still unsure about which pitch to choose due to the size of my vehicle
You can look at a video which shows the access points and full camp site pitch tour here --> Campsite tour
For caravans, due to the towing length we have a recommended maximum limit of 7.3 metres to access the site.
We want you to have a smooth and safe arrival to our campsite so please consider this and be prepared to be turned away for the safety of your property and others if you choose to ignore our advice about recommended limits.
Group bookings
Do you allow groups?
At the moment we are not taking group bookings. Anyone booking as a group and not declaring this may be denied access or asked to leave.
Do you accept DofE groups?
At the moment we only accept DofE groups during week days out of school holidays.
Illness and family emergencies
I am unsure if I will be able to travel and would like to only pay a deposit, is this possible?
Our booking system takes full payment in advance. If you are not confident that you want to travel then please hold off making an advance booking. We are a small, family business and the pandemic hit us hard financially, like other small businesses. This means every booking is important to us and we have a clear and strict cancellation/booking amendment policy that we have to stick to in order for the business to remain viable.
What happens if I am unable to travel?
We strongly recommend that you have staycation insurance to protect you if you are prevented from making your holiday with us.
What happens if I need to cancel my booking?
Our usual terms and conditions will apply, these are as follows. If you book to stay with us and have to cancel within 31 days of your stay arrival date then no refund will be given. Please check your own travel insurance policy to protect you if illness or circumstances prevent you from being able to travel.
If you book to stay and cancel with more than 31 days until your stay arrival date then a 50 percent refund will be given.
What happens if I need to change my booking?
No amendments or changes are allowed within 31 days of your arrival date. Amendments prior to that will be subject to a £10 admin fee.
Why am I being charged more to move dates when it’s the same number of days?
Please note that our tariff for pitch rates varies throughout the year, with low, mid and peak seasons. If you book to stay in low or mid season and wish to then transfer to August for example, then you will be asked to pay the difference for the change in season rate.
